🌪️ Tornadoes, Two-Stepping, and Tennessee Adventures — Another Wild Weekend for Brushy Mountain Squares! 🌪️

The Brushy Mountain Squares were spread across Tennessee this weekend, proving once again that square dancers will travel through just about anything for a good time… and this weekend, Mother Nature decided to put that to the test!

The first annual Chapel Hill Getaway took place at beautiful Henry Horton State Park, featuring the always entertaining Charlie Robertson from Oklahoma and Jet Roberts from Alabama. Connie Wise from Mississippi kept the round dancers moving and smiling all weekend long.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Brushy Mountain adventure without a little excitement. Big Man and Babyface literally outran a tornado while traveling through thunder, lightning, torrential rain, and enough weather alerts to make anyone consider building an ark instead of dancing. Thankfully, they made it safely and still managed to hit the dance floor like true professionals.

With laughs, dancing, and stories that will probably grow a little bigger every time they’re retold, the first Chapel Hill Getaway was definitely a success. We’re already looking forward to many more in the future!

Meanwhile, The Transporter, Queen Pookie, and Cool Hand headed to Cookeville where they danced to Ken Burke from Tennessee at Friendship Squares, proving once again there’s never just one dance happening when Brushy Mountain Squares are involved.

Back home, several members celebrated Mr. Cool’s birthday at Oak Ridge Country Squares while dancing to Terry McGill from Tennessee on Saturday night. Nothing says “happy birthday” quite like good friends, great music, and a packed dance floor.

Boogie, The Deputy, Fireball, Big Sexy, Flo, and a pack of dogs spent the weekend soaking up the sunshine and storms on the lake while celebrating Big Sexy’s birthday. From relaxing by the water to discussing group names of animals to making memories out on the boat, the group enjoyed a weekend full of laughter, friendship, minor injuries and plenty of birthday fun.

From tornado dodging to birthday celebrations, it was another unforgettable weekend for the Brushy Mountain Squares. One thing is for sure — no matter where the road leads, this group knows how to make memories
