Dancing in Disguise & Cruising in Style

Last night at Knoxville Squares, Ken Burke called a Masquerade Dance, and by all accounts it was a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, we’re not entirely sure who attended. Between the masks, costumes, and mysterious disguises, identifying dancers became nearly impossible. Rumor has it that longtime friends introduced themselves three times, and at least one dancer spent the evening trying to figure out who had just stolen their usual spot in the square. If you were there, we hope you had a great time. If you weren’t there, maybe you were and nobody recognized you.

Meanwhile, several members of Brushy Mountain Squares have traded dancing shoes for deck shoes and set sail on the high seas. The Warden, Steve Kopman, and Captain Alan Hall are reportedly leading the voyage, though reports from onboard suggest the waters have become increasingly dangerous. Tales have reached shore of a pirate known only as Mike Hoose, who has apparently taken to demanding tips as loot from unsuspecting travelers. Whether these stories are true or simply the result of too much sunshine and sea air remains to be seen when our seafarers return to dry land. We, land dwellers wish our cruising dancers fair winds, calm seas, and enough treasure left over to make it home.
